Landing Permit

All flights arriving at VRDA are required to obtain prior landing permission. Approvals for scheduled and charter flights generally take longer, as they are processed by the Ministry of Civil Aviation. For private jets, the procedure is more straightforward and typically requires only a few days.

To apply for a landing permit, full aircraft details must be provided, including aircraft type, weight, and passenger information. A local agent is responsible for submitting the landing permit application. For private jets operating under our agency, we handle the entire landing permit process on behalf of the operator.

Aircraft Parking

At VRDA, many private jets remain on the apron for the full duration of their guests’ holidays, as most luxury travelers prioritize convenience over the cost of repositioning flights. Only chartered aircraft generally return to their base to serve other scheduled operations.

The aerodrome has space for 10 private jets, which is often sufficient during the summer months. However, with three major luxury resorts located close to the airport, these parking slots tend to reach full capacity during the winter and festive seasons.

For those planning a private jet holiday in Noonu Atoll during peak periods, it is advisable to secure arrangements several months in advance. If you are organizing a last-minute trip, we recommend checking parking availability before confirming travel dates or resort bookings. We can assist with both aircraft arrangements and hotel reservations, often with rates lower than direct resort prices.

Jet Fuel

Private jets arriving at VRDA for long-haul holidays typically require refueling. The airport provides high-quality JET A1 fuel, available through pre-arranged orders. As the local handling agent, we coordinate the fuel request simultaneously when applying for the landing permit.

We supply only premium fuel imported by the government-owned company, which delivers and handles it in strict accordance with ICAO standards. This is the same fuel used at Malé’s main international airport, and there have been no reported fuel quality issues in the Maldives over the past 30 years.

The airport does not offer walk-up fuel sales; all refueling must be pre-arranged, with payment completed in advance.

While the majority of private jets arriving at VRDA serve guests staying at nearby resorts, some travelers use Maafaru as a gateway to explore other atolls. Baa Atoll is home to several renowned luxury resorts, including Nautilus Maldives, Four Seasons Landaa Giraavaru, Milaidhoo Island Resort, Soneva Fushi, and Anantara Kihivah.

Since there is no international airport in Baa Atoll, Maafaru serves as the nearest point of arrival. Traveling to these resorts by speedboat can take one to two hours, making seaplane transfers the preferred and most convenient option. Through our local agency, we can also arrange chartered luxury aircraft at competitive rates, ensuring a smooth and comfortable journey to your destination.

Ice Cube Packets

Private jets departing from VRDA frequently require ice for onboard beverage service. We supply ice cubes in large, convenient packets, which can be arranged for pickup from Maafaru Island or directly from nearby resorts. When flight crews are accommodated at local resorts, ice can be prepared at the same location, allowing easy and efficient transfer to the aircraft.

For larger jets carrying multiple passengers, higher quantities of ice may be necessary. To ensure seamless service, we request that these requirements be communicated in advance. Coordinating logistics is critical, as various services are often sourced from different islands. Thorough planning ahead of time guarantees that all services are delivered accurately, punctually, and without disruption, ensuring a smooth departure experience for every flight.

Dish Washing

We offer professional dishwashing services at Maafaru for private jet operators. To prevent unwanted odors onboard, operators often prefer not to store used plates, cutlery, or glassware, and we handle this completely.

Laundry Service

We provide professional laundry services through our partner resorts. When flight crews are accommodated at these resorts, the service is both convenient and cost-effective, as laundry and crew transfers can be coordinated with a single boat trip each way.

TSA and Security Checks

All international airports in the Maldives require passengers to undergo standard security and customs procedures, including luggage scanning, personnel screening, and occasional random inspections by Customs.

At Velana International Airport (VRMM), we provide a VIP fast-track service, commonly used by private jet passengers. This service allows travelers to bypass the main arrival terminal while still complying with all security and customs requirements, often completing the process in as little as 10 minutes. Scheduled flights can also use this service, though luggage processing may take longer.

At VRDA Maafaru International Airport, there is no formal fast-track or lounge service due to the airport’s smaller size. However, private jet passengers can pass through security and customs quickly and efficiently, making fast-track arrangements unnecessary.
