Baros Maldives
The Lighthouse at Baros Maldives is every bit as memorable as its reputation suggests. From the moment we arrived, its iconic sail-shaped design and overwater setting created a sense of occasion.
Our table overlooked the lagoon, where reef sharks and tropical fish moved beneath the deck. The atmosphere was refined but relaxed, with soft jazz music, attentive service and uninterrupted ocean views.
The menu combines beautifully prepared seafood with modern Asian and Mediterranean influences. Each dish was carefully presented, but the lobster bisque was the highlight. Prepared tableside by our waiter, it was rich, smooth and full of flavour, adding a little theatre to an already memorable evening.
Our dining tip: The tableside lobster bisque. It is one of the signature experiences at The Lighthouse and well worth ordering.

SEA Underwater Restaurant
Anantara Kihavah Maldives
SEA is one restaurant we particularly recommend for lunch. In the natural daylight, the underwater world surrounding the dining room comes vividly to life, with tropical fish, reef sharks and turtles gliding past the windows.
Before reaching the dining room, guests pass through the world’s first underwater wine cellar. The setting is extraordinary, but the cuisine is equally impressive. Contemporary dishes, premium ingredients and carefully selected wines create an experience that deserves a place on every food lover’s Maldives bucket list.
During our lunch, it was difficult to know where to look. One moment, we were admiring the beautifully presented dishes, and the next, we were watching marine life swim just a few metres from our table.
